Experience Based Design Workshop
Date: 22 November 2017
Time: 10:00 to 15:30
Mercure Hotel Bolton | Blackrod
If booking as part of a team, please ensure you fill in the team name field when completing your booking.
Experience-based design (EBD) is a methodology for working with patients and staff to improve health and care services and settings.
Breaking away from a 'clinician knows best attitude', users are at the heart of the design process; with the focus on how patients and staff experience and interact with the service.
This workshop will introduce you to the theory and practice of how to use the experiences of patients, families, carers and staff experience to better understand your service and co-design solutions.
We expect teams to attend with a ‘project area’ in mind to work on, and will start to develop the project plan during the day.
What will attendees learn at this event / workshop?
This session will introduce key concepts of using the experience based design approach and will provide practical application of some of the tools. It will also demonstrate how you can improve services by focusing on the actual experiences of patients, carers and staff, and will include:
- An introduction to experience based design
- A workshop on discovering patient, families and staff experience
- Development of approaches for gathering experiences, including design of templates and sessions with patients, families and staff
- Planning what else the teams need to do within their organisations to develop EBD methodology
Who is this event aimed at?
We are ideally looking for multi-discplinary teams of five people (though we are open to smaller groups), who are interested in learning how staff and patients can help in the co-design of services and care pathways.
Groups can be a mix of health and care staff across various disciplines, and members are also welcome to invite service user and patient representatives as part of their group.
This event is not role specific, though would be of most benefit to most frontline health and care staff, operational managers, and service improvement roles.
Please note registration will require you to specify which team you will be attending on behalf of.
Individual members are also welcome to attend this event, however please note that priority for places will be given to those attending as teams.
