The Advanced Improvement Practitioner Programme is a unique and ambitious development programme designed to support senior staff to lead and facilitate strategic improvement.

Programme Overview

The programme is grounded in the science of quality improvement, providing depth of theory and knowledge of its application to support service and organisational improvement alongside the development of the participant in leading complex change through engagement and personal leadership.

The aim of the programme is to increase knowledge, skills and behaviours to:

  • Lead sustainable improvement in health and care services
  • Develop improvement strategy and critically analyse and deploy appropriate improvement concepts and methods
  • Engage and support people through change
  • Facilitate improvement through organisational development and as an internal improvement resource

The programme will be delivered through a combination of face to face sessions, webex and coaching.

Full information about the programme is available via the information pack.

When will it take place?

The programme will run across 14 sessions taking place between June and November 2018.

Full dates of sessions are available in the information pack above and applicants are expected to commit to attend at least 80% of sessions.

Who is this programme for?

The programme is aimed at people who are committed to continuous improvement and are able to demonstrate the values and behaviours of an improver.

Participants will be in a role where they are able to lead and influence beyond their own team and department, and who already have experience of the theory and application of quality improvement methodology.

Applicants must have the support of an Executive Sponsor and their line manager ahead of submitting their application. This is to demonstrate organisational commitment to building capability for improvement, and permission to free up the time to be fully engaged in the programme.
